DerekPARKINSONIt is with great sadness that we announce the death of Derek Parkinson aged 87, who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on August 9. Derek was a loving husband to Betty, a devoted family man, father to Keith and Stephen, Grandfather to Sara, Kevin, Gary and Andrew, and doting Great Grandfather to Abbie, Sophie, Kate, Dylan, Jake and Faith. Derek worked for over 40 years, and was very happy, at M&F Components, Accrington. He was an avid Blackburn Rovers Supporter, holding a season ticket for over 50 years, and passed his passion for the game and club onto his family for three generations. He was also a keen gardener with true green fingers and could make anything bloom. The funeral will take place on Monday, August 21 at 11.40am at Accrington Crematorium, Burnley Road. No flowers please, but donations can be made in memory of Derek to Rossendale Hospice who provided such wonderful care in his last weeks.
