Maurice SamuelCOWELLNotice of death of our dad Maurice Samuel Cowell who passed away on August 21 at the Royal Blackburn Hospital at the age of 90.
Maurice was an ex-Mayor of Hyndburn in 1997/98 and also an Honorary Alderman to Hyndburn.
He was married to Margaret Cowell who was the Mayoress at the time, they did separate a few years later.
Maurice was a keen fisherman and loved cars and gardening. He would help anyone and ran a successful neighbourhood watch in the 1990s in the Springhill area of the town which received many media and national awards.
Maurice was also a Labour councillor in the town and was well thought of in the Labour Party.
Maurice leaves behind his son Renie and daughters Helen, Louise and Michelle. Also his grandchildren Joe, Harry, Celine, Lee, Sarah, Claire, Georgia, Ruby, Alfred, Chester, Adrian, Addison and Christopher.
There will be a service at St James Church in Accrington at 10am on Monday, September 16, followed by a service of the burial at Accrington Cemetery, followed by the wake at the Whitakers Arms on Burnley Road.
