Mr Van Tromp welcomed me to Willy Eds in 1985, when I was a young, naive teacher. He helped me secure my home as I only had a temporary housing contract and if I'd lost my home, I would've had to leave my job.
He was kind to everyone- students and staff- and he was interested in everyone. He would always ask me 'How was Limavady?', my home town in Northern Ireland, after the holidays. He was like a father figure to many of us at that school and everything changed for the worse after he left.
I am so sorry for your loss.
With deepest sympathy,
Liz Johnston
