The obituary notice of Eric WORLEY

I called at Worley's Hardware yesterday and asked after the lovely Mr Worley- I feel so sad that I won't see his kind face again. When I moved nearby in 1987 he became an invaluable source of advice and repaired loads of things for me. Thanks to him, the shop became, and remains, my favourite in all the world. You can rest easy knowing Stuart, Gavin and Chris have carried on your tradition of service and kindness.

Mr Worley & his lovely wife Thelma were a small but important part of my life growing up in North Cardiff in the 70s. Through their wonderful shop, they provided me with so many things that a young lad with an inventive mind could need. I remember particularly the honour of being allowed to select, on my own, from the downstairs of the shop, unbrol paints for my Airfix models. Mrs W said she trusted me, & was happy that I would tidy them up.
Mr Worley was a lovely, lovely man. I’m sad to read of his passing & send my condolences to his family, & all who knew him.
