Two years ago last tonight, I made the call to work saying I couldn't come in. I was a mess, breaking down as I explained that my gorgeous Nanna had deteriorated and I needed to be by her side. I’m so grateful I stayed.
During the night, she woke up briefly and asked if I was there. I told her, "Yes Nanna, I’m here." She asked me to hold her hand; she took both of mine, looked directly into my eyes with nothing but pure love, and fell back to sleep. At 6 am, my dad arrived so she was never alone for a second. That was the last time I saw her. Later that night, with her only daughter by her side, she took her final breath. I think of her every single day and I know she’s been guiding my path ever since she gained her wings. Love you always, Nanna. 🕊️✨
