AudreyWOLFENDENIt is with great sadness that the family of Mrs Audrey Wolfenden announces her passing after a brief illness, on September 28, at the age of 93. Audrey of Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall passed away peacefully at home attended by her much loved family. She leaves her husband of 70 years, Thomas, sons Ian, and Grahame with his partner Maria, together with many relations and friends. Audrey will be remembered as a kind and gentle person who was a keen gardener and a talented flower arranger at Rossendale Flower Club, who loved to travel both abroad and at home with her husband and friends. Born in Lancaster, she lived in Rawtenstall from an early age and worked as a chemist's assistant at Dickensons chemists at Tup Bridge before her marriage and at Shaw's greengrocers in later life before retirement and had many varied interests ranging from macrame to decoupage, reading to cake-making and had a lifelong love of chocolate. Audrey was a wonderful wife and mother, a good friend to many and will be greatly missed. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 11 with a Celebration of Life service and cremation at Burnley Crematorium at 11.30am. All welcome to attend. No flowers thank you, donations to Diabetes UK and Alzheimers Society can be made at the crematorium. Many thanks to all the staff at Townfield Care, all the District Nursing staff and Routes and Primary Carers for all their help and support.
