ChristineWILKINIt is with great sadness that we announce the death of Christine Wilkin, who passed away peacefully at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on Monday, July 31, aged 84 years. Christine was a loving wife to the late Alan, devoted mother to John and Michael, and grandma to Ben, Lewis, Thomas and Joseph. Christine’s happy place was always Cornwall. She loved everything about it and spent a number of happy holidays there, going on long walks and befriending many locals. She also built up an extensive network of pen friends from all over the world, enjoying making friends with people she’d never met, getting to know them and their families, learning about their countries’ culture and history, and in some cases going on to meet them in person. As she got older and wasn’t able to travel or write as much, her main pastimes were listening to music and completing crosswords, but her number one passion was her grandsons whom she loved to bits. Christine’s funeral service will take place at Accrington Crematorium on Monday, August 14 at 2.20pm.
