David was a man shaped by the land, steady, hard working and deeply grounded in the rhythms of farming. He understood the value of early mornings, long days and the quiet satisfaction that comes from honest hard work. Farming isn't just a job, its a way of life and David lived it with pride and dedication.
Those who knew Dave well will remember his reliability and his calm no nonsense ways. He was a kind sole and there was a quiet strength about him. The land teaches patience, resilience and respect and David carried those lessons through his lifetime responsibly. He faced challenges with determination and pride, he did things properly. Dave leaves behind a legacy of integrity and devotion. I am honoured to call him a friend. But he was more than a friend, he was one of a select few who mentored me and helped shape my persona. He didn't lecture or try to impress, he set a high standard and taught by example. He was loyal, he was funny and he is part of my fondest memories. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. For those of us he influenced, part of him lives on in who we have become and we will pass on his example to the generation that follow. Thankyou Dave - Fare well old friend. Your mate Pete.
