Sending our deepest sympathies to Maggie, Sophie and all the family at the sad news of Eugene’s passing. We have lasting memories of long-ago visits to Ireland and his frequently expressed appreciation for mam’s homemade cakes. He was a lovely man who will be remembered with fondness.

It is with sadness that we write this tribute from Western Australia. Eugene, a younger Whelan cousin, gathered in childhood with his older brother and sister, the late Aiden and Mary, creating indelible memories as they spent time together in Athleague. These treasured moments forged deep connections, and Eugene played a vital role in keeping our family united as we travelled through life. No matter where life led us, we always returned to the spiritual home of Clare Island to reconnect, whether in Roscommon, Coventry, or Manchester.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Maggie, Sophie, Anne, Aiden, and all the beautiful grandchildren, the late Mary’s Dave, and the extended family and friends, Padraig and Pat, and their family in Bunbury, Western Australia (Athleague, Roscommon). 🙏☘️🇮🇪❤️❤️❤️🕯️
