KathleenWHALLEYRemember, with love, the beauty and kindness of Kathleen Whalley of Great Harwood 21st January 1932 to 27th October 2022. Kathleen slipped away peacefully, aged 90, reassured by the company and loving presence of her loved ones throughout her last days and hours. Kathleen was the treasured wife of the late Alan Whalley, for 61 years. The family pray they are together once more. Kathleen was the kind and gifted mother of Fiona and Kathryn; nurturing mother-guide for sister Maureen Travers-Howard and close sister and friend of brother Bernard Howard and their late sister Eileen Howarth and brother in law Clifford. Kathleen will be remembered with joy and laughter by her granddaughters Isabelle, Genevieve and Madeleine who adored her. Kathleen's sons-in-law David and Malcolm give thanks for her inclusive family heart and remember shared interests and experiences with smiles and tears. Remembered with love and friendship by her sisters-in-law Eileen Whalley, Lynne Travers-Howard and Rebecca Eaton. To many she was Aunty Kathleen maker of poems, games and magnificent trifles and so will be remembered fondly by her nieces and nephews Sheila, Corrine, Roisin, Mark, Paul, the late Ian and James, Diane, Debbie, Craig and Rachel on the Howard side and by David, Lynne and Rachel on the Whalley side. Always the best and kindest teacher, former pupils will remember Kathleen from Hippings Methodist Primary School, Oswaldtwistle. A service to celebrate Kathleen's life and legacy will be held on Monday 21st November 1:30p.m. at Trinity Methodist URC Church, Great Harwood BB6 7JN. Followed by a service of committal at Accrington Crematorium, Burnley Road, BB5 6HA at 3:00 p.m. Refreshments will be provided after the service at Churchfield House, Great Harwood. BB6 7RE at 3.45pm. A splash of colour and a touch of sparkle are welcomed. Family flowers only, please. Donations in memory of Kathleen will be shared between the RSPB and Barnardos charities: reflecting her love of wildlife, birds and children.
