IreneWELLSWELLS, Irene, nee Benfield. Happy birthday, mum, on what would have been your centenary. Sadly, you never made it but for the 79 years you were allowed, you were loved probably more than you knew and always inspired us with your selfless love, devotion and hard work. You made all your children, Steve, Mike, Pete, Joy and Martin, feel they were your favourite. You fought ill health with courage and fortitude and always made us welcome - the glue that held us all together. From your career as a tracer at International Combustion, through sterling work for the Mackworth 134th Scouts and the Townswomen's Guild, or through playing your beloved bridge, yours was a life well-lived. For your kids who always miss you, matching your example is still a work in progress.
