JeanWEARDENIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Wearden on July 8, aged 96 years.
Devoted wife to the late Robert (Bob) Wearden and beloved mother to daughters Susan McIntosh and Joanne Tomlinson. Dearly loved grandma to Lewis, Lucy, Joseph, Samuel and Harry and great-grandma to Leni and Margot.
Jean was born in Todmorden on April 30, 1929 to Norah and Harry Wilcock and she was sister to Denis and Pat,
she attended St Peter’s School and remained in the Valley her whole life.
Jean passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in Haslingden Hall Care Home where she had been for a very short time and where she had been looked after with great respect and kindness.
Always a lover of life and people and completely selfless, she will be missed greatly by everyone she touched from her life at Hardmans Slipper Factory and her recent time in her retirement at Chimney Pieces. The Matriarch of our family and a beautiful glamorous lady. We will miss her terribly but her love, legacy and memories will always be with us.
Jean’s Requiem Mass will be held on Wednesday, July 23, at 12.30pm at St James the Less R.C. Church conducted by Father Simon Stamp followed by interment at Rawtenstall Cemetery at 2pm.
Family flowers only please with donations to St James the Less Church, Rawtenstall.
