SarahWATSONIt is with great sadness that the family announce the peaceful passing of a dearly loved mother, Sarah ‘Sally’ Watson, on Thursday, April 28, at Blackburn Hospital. Sarah was 94 and had lived at Wellfield Care Home for the past three years. Sarah worked at Woolworths after leaving school, then went to work at Highams in the cotton trade. She left there when she had her children, and returned to work as they got older, completing her working life at Peel House Medical Centre on Avenue Parade. Sally had various interests, but her greatest love was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed helping others whenever she could, and became known throughout the borough as ‘Aunty Sally’. She loved to be out and about, and would frequently walk into town two or three times a day to chat to people on the market. Sarah was the wife of the late Jim and mother of her late sons Stephen, Graham, and Robert. She leaves behind sons Anthony, Andrew, and Sean, daughters-in-law Janet, Sandra, and Debbie, and was the cherished Nan of Andrew, Mark, Garry, Rachel, Matthew, Sarah, Samantha, Charlie, Amber, and Alfie, and great-grandchildren Demi, Mia, and Alana. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Rose, and the sister of the departed Robert, Clare, Elsie, Rose, Margaret, and Grace. ‘Aunty Sally’ also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and many, many friends. The family would like to thank the staff and carers at Wellfield for their care and kindness. The funeral will be held on Monday, May 16, at 3pm at Accrington Crematorium, led by Rev Philip Norris. Family flowers only; donations are being received in memory of Sally for Derian House Children’s Hospice. Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
