I'm sorry to learn of Mac's passing. I got to know him back in the late 1990s through a family friend and former Grand Bard, the late Brian Coombes. Right away, I was highly impressed by his knowledge of local history and that's before I even mention of the vast collection of Cornish postcards which he'd managed to accumulate over the years.
I send my condolences to Mac's family who are remembered in my thoughts and prayers at this time, as I feel sure the contribution which he'd made towards the various Old Cornwall Societies of which he was once a member will never be forgotten.

One of my favourite Mac stories was how he was standing at a bus stop in the run-up to Christmas and a little boy immediately recognised the white beard and started talking to him saying what he'd like for Christmas. Mac played along and asked if he'd been good during the year and asked what would be his favourite toy. The lad needed no convincing he'd met Santa Claus in disguise waiting for the bus in Foxhole!

We are all going to miss Mac's involvement in so many community-based groups to which he gave his time, wit and wisdom. He enriched many an occasion with his presence. He was a proud Cornish patriot and Bard of Gorsedd Kernow 'Cunteller an Brewyon' (Gatherer of the fragments). Future generations will have cause to be grateful to him for generously making available online his lifetime's collection of historic post cards of Cornwall. RIP Mac.
Jory
