I was a teacher at Meir Primary from about1980 for 6 years or so. Helen was a larger than life figure at the school and in her role of janitor/cleaner knew all the children and wanted the best for them.
I was a Y6 then Y5 teacher and did a lot of sport at the school so was often about late.
We got on great and had some wonderful chats. She was an important member of the team and Meir Primary was a very good school.
Helen was always about for school activities and a great team player.
She was delighted when I got my promotion and moved to Christchurch Fenton.
i have nothing but great memories of her and send my condolences to all the family.
