Although I only knew David for a short time, it was more than enough to recognise and deeply appreciate his passion and unwavering dedication to serving our community.

As a new Magistrate, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand his commitment to ensuring that the Victoria Law Courts were accessible, understood, and welcoming to people from all walks of life. His vision and energy in this space were truly inspiring.

Seeing his leadership during the Mock Trials and Magistrates in the Community programs was particularly powerful. He had a remarkable ability to connect with and empower visitors with his experience and knowledge of the Judiciary and the Victoria Law Courts.

David’s legacy of service, integrity, and community spirit will undoubtedly endure. My thoughts are with his family at this time, as we honour and celebrate his life.

Whilst I only knew David for a short period as a Magistrate, he made a big impression.
He had a wealth of knowledge and plenty of anecdotes and he was always generous about sharing that knowledge.

He will be warmly remembered.

I knew David when we sat on Appeals in Birmingham Crown Court and met him on several other occasions in his work with the magistracy of which he was an active, enthusiastic and active participant.
He was everything you’d want in a judge.
David was always collegiate, good humoured, fair minded and a credit to the magistracy and to Birmingham.
He was a good man and I won’t be the only person who misses him a great deal.
