DavidUNDERHILLHarry In Memory of David Harry Underhill 1930-2017. Wife and family of David Underhill thank everyone for their good wishes. David was a quiet man and to our knowledge never did anyone any harm, an accolade many of us know we could not accept. Always a quip in his excruciating pain his aim was to force a smile from whoever was the recipient of his wit. Loyal and trustworthy, a man that gave more to people around him than he took from them. Totally unassuming but undoubtedly and unquestionably in love with the young girl he idolised and married and who now would be celebrating 66 years of marriage but the bond was for 70 years truly remarkable. He worked consistently for the company his father Harry introduced him to early in his career and without equal in today's terms worked for the same company for 51 years, not one day taken in illness. However, with the caveat if he was ill took it as holiday, his reward was a framed sick note on his retirement, which suited his approach to good humour. He was also a lifelong member of the scout movement having joined at the age of 8 and retired at 73. He became assistant district commissioner in Lichfield gaining respect not by bullying or overbearing authoritarian approach but by calmly earning their respect giving the youth club in his charge guidance by reflecting on their actions. He dearly loved his sons and his grandchildren who he helped to guide through their younger years and latterly amused by his never-ending teasing and humour. Thank you all, Beryl.
