I am so saddened by this news.
Mrs Tolhurst passed through my mind about 25 minutes ago and I thought I would look her up.
I actually have not seen her for many years- since she leftStretford Grammar School for girls. I have often thought of her though. She was such a lovely teacher and very kind to me. I used to ( at 13!) babysitter her two young daughters when she and Miss Mc Arthur would go to the theatre etc
She took me under her wing as she realised what a troubled home life I had, I think.
I can still, in my imagination, see her tiny handwriting and her short cropped hair with just a hint of grey at the sides. In addition, she had a delightfulsense of humour and the often made me giggle uncontrollably.
Rest in peace my loveliest of teachers. You inspired me.
