I heard the sad news today from my sister that Owen passed away recently. He was an intelligent, courageous, creative, imaginative, independent and alternative thinker. I knew him at school when he arrived on old British motorcycles which he had nursed back to life. I lost touch with him after he married Mary and moved away, but I heard about his extraordinary career with the forestry commission and his inspiring work as a Government advisor. He once gave me a lift to Bristol in his Land Rover which was an adventure! He was a humble and caring man and I am sure that he holds a special place in God’s heart for all the people he helped throughout his life. Our other close school friends remember him with love and respect. May he rest in peace.

Owen was a great chap and I enjoyed working with him on the education team and the plant health team. So many fond memories of a lovely, lovely gent. So sorry to hear of his passing and my thoughts are with Mary and his children and grandchildren.
