MadgeTENNANTMrs Madge Tennant, of Helmshore Road, Haslingden, Rossendale, passed away on January 17, aged 91 years. Madge attended Haslingden County Primary School, Haslingden Grammar School and trained as a secretary at Guests College Blackburn. She also worked as a secretary at Simpson & Ashworth Solicitors, Accrington and at Nicholas Worsleys at Acre, Haslingden. In later life she worked part-time at the Haslingden Observer Office and at the Rossendale Conservative Office. Madge enjoyed being a mother to her two daughters and was an active member of the local NSPCC Committee and worked for the RNLI Haslingden Guild for many years. Madge was the Mayoress of Rossendale alongside her husband David, who was Mayor in the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Year 1977. She was involved with St James Church all her life and was a longstanding member of The Mother’s Union. Wife of the late David James Tennant, mother to Anne Elizabeth and Susan Margaret, mother-in-law to Nigel. Grandmother to Matthew, Rebecca, James and their spouses Leah, Robert and Lilly, great-grandmother to Albie, Grace and Oscar. A service will be held on Wednesday, February 1 at St James Church, Haslingden at 10.15am, conducted by Father David Stephenson. Followed by a burial at 11am at Haslingden Cemetery.
