Robert was the first diabetic consultant I'd had when first diagnosed way back in 1970 at Nottingham General Hospital, as I was a 27 year old 'newbie' - who ever really made an impact on my enthusiasm for diabetic knowledge and newer treatments!
Robert was a very approachable consultant in my experience - hence I've never forgotten his kindness and help in coping with my Type 1 from the start, 55 years ago.

Just seen sad news of Dr Robert's death - so sorry as he was my first Diabetic Consultant at Nottingham General Hospital in the mid 70s! He was a wonderful man who always had time for me to discuss my type 1 diabetes at Dr Wells' clinic! RIP Dr/Professor Robert Tattershall - I will never forget him and his kindness!
