I am an Old Cooperian, as was Gary. We met up in 1959 as we went to school in London's East End, but I lived in Upminster and Gary in Hornchurch. I remember the many evenings spent in the "cocktail bar" of The White Hart Hotel, Hornchurch. As a bunch of teenagers we met, talked and spent almost every Sunday evening in the bar, where Gary worked in the kitchen at weekends.
Gary had a truly great sense of humour and my lasting memory is of his smile beneath those black "Buddy Holly" glasses, just like mine !
Happy memories,  rest in peace old friend.
