Belayed Tribute for: The Revd Ann Sykes (deceased)

I trained for the priesthood with Ann and three others - 'The Famous Five!' - and we were all ordained deacons together in 2005, and then priests in 2006.

I was checking for Ann's address to send her a Christmas Card last night. I still had her Huddersfield address but for some reason, I wondered if she might have moved and popped her name into google to see if there was any news of her online ... and I was quite shocked to immediately learn of her passing. I now want to pass on my sincere condolences for her daughter, family and friends for their loss. She was a lovely lady and dear friend, who I know will be sorely missed by many. I do have some fond memories of good times that we all shared together, which maybe I can pass on at another time. For now I will simply say that, Ann was a marvellous person that I shall always remember with love and great fondness.

The Revd Dennis Shields
