Ken and Jose lived across the road from my parents Glyn and Margaret Richards in Great Western Avenue Bridgend back in the 1950’s when Ken and Jose and my parents were new parents. They stayed lifelong friends though Glyn and Margaret moved away from Wales for work in the late 50’s. I last saw Ken and Jose a few years ago and am very sorry not to have kept up with news. I’m so sorry not to have been at the funeral as they were at my father’s in 2011. As a child and visitor later in life I was incredibly fond of Ken and Jose. Ken was an incredible historian who remembered every detail of important historical events in his life. His recall and ability to recount very articulately experiences from many decades ago including hard lived experiences in the far east during the war were amazing. His sense of humour was legendary.
My parents always remembered Ken and Jose with real fondness. It was a real and very lasting friendship.
