MichaelSLATEROn Tuesday, February 22, peacefully at Royal Blackburn Hospital with family by his side, Mick, aged 76. Ex-husband of Geraldine, much loved dad of Louise and Michael, cherished grandad of Benjamin, dear brother of the late Kathleen, caring uncle of Claire, Donna and Joanne, best friend of David Connor, also a loyal friend to many. Mick was a hardworking family man who took great pride in his work, which was also like a hobby to him; his butcher’s stall M Slater in Accrington Market was his life. After retirement from his own stall, Mick kept his hand in the industry by helping his fellow butchers on their stalls. Mick loved nature and all it had to offer; he loved the outdoors, especially the countryside, and shooting was a favourite hobby of Mick’s. Mick loved to socialise with his friends, especially his best friend David, and he loved a good beer. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him. Mick’s funeral service will be held at St Joseph’s RC Church, Accrington on Wednesday, March 9 at 10.30am, followed by interment at Dill Hall Cemetery.
