JeanSCANLONof Keswick Close, Huncoat, Accrington, died peacefully in hospital aged 88 years.

Jean was the beloved wife of the late David, mother of Trish and the late Carolyn, mother-in-law of the late Stan. Grandma of Jamie and Connor, also a great-grandma and great great-grandma. Jean will be much loved and sadly missed by all her extended family and friends.

Jean was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland and moved to Accrington through her late husband's employment in 1963. She worked as a home help for several years before taking up a role as a school dinner lady at various schools across the Hyndburn area - a job she really enjoyed and carried on that work right up until her retirement. Her hobbies included knitting, playing bingo, watching 'soaps' on TV and going out for family meals. Jean was an avid reader and especially enjoyed Catherine Cookson novels. She also enjoyed shopping for anything and was always on the lookout for a bargain.

A service will be held on Wednesday, November 5, at 3pm at Accrington Crematorium Chapel. Neil Overton will conduct the celebration of life service.

Family flowers only, donations to Leukaemia Research c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington, BB5 6DR.
