I met Rita and Derrick around 1960 when I was 10 and late sister Julie was 7. They were friends of my Mum and Dad Ron and Joan Harrison. Rita worked with my Dad at the Dock Offices. We lived in Wentworth Rd and they lived in Fairfax Rd, next road to us. Rita and Derrick were a very comical couple and I can remember lots of get togethers and days out together, always laughter and fun. I can also remember Rita's parents Mr and Mrs Russell, who were always fun and they made our visits to Rita and Derricks on Christmas mornings an event to remember. I knew Rita up to the present day, she was a big part of my childhood and will be remembered with fondness and affection.
