BarbaraRIDLERRIDLER, BARBARA W., Worthing, West Sussex. Barbara W. Ridler, 96, passed away peacefully in Worthing on January 7, 2026. Born in Stockport and growing up in Hazel Grove, she was the daughter of the late Harold Chadwick and the late Dorothy Chadwick and the loving wife of the late Douglas Ridler for 37 years, with whom she settled in Newton Abbot. Barbara was predeceased by her loving brother and sister, Donald Chadwick and Margaret Buck. Barbara was destined to share her love of sports through teaching others and had a long career as a PE teacher, culminating at Churston Grammar School and, finally, as primary school teacher at Milber Primary School. In retirement her love of the outdoors continued with many walks around Dartmoor and remained active with swimming and Tai Chi. Later in life she moved to Worthing and settled in at The Cloisters in Broadwater, making lots of new friends, joining in all the social activities, continuing to watch all sorts of sports on TV and loving her new life there. Life at The Cloisters allowed her to maintain her independence.
Survivors include her children Stephen Ridler (Susan), Troy, NY and Carol Coles (Philip), Worthing and her wonderful grandchildren Jillian and Andrew Ridler, and Emily Coles. She is also survived by her loving sister, Hilda Kelland, Isham. The family is sincerely grateful to all the staff at Worthing Hospital for their care and compassion.
