Rev Canon James JohnRICHARDSON OBEOn 25th June 2026, passed away peacefully at Royal Stoke University Hospital, aged 85 years.

Husband of Janet, loving dad to Mark, Anna and Ben, proud grandad to Tom, Megan, Calum and Dylan, brother of Shirley, Linda, Susan and the late Jeff. Ordained in 1969, Jim served as Curate at St Peter's Collegiate Church, Wolverhampton (1969-1972), before becoming Priest-in-Charge of All Saints Parish Church, Hanley. In 1975 he was appointed Rector of St Mary's, Nantwich, before becoming Vicar of Leeds Parish Church in 1982. He later served as Executive Director of the Council of Christians and Jews and was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2006 in recognition of his services to the Church of England. In 1996 he became Rector of St Peter's Church, Bournemouth, where he served until his retirement in 2009. Retirement brought no end to his vocation, and he continued his ministry as Canon Pastor of Sherborne Abbey.

Funeral Service at St Mary's Church, Nantwich, on Friday 24th July 2026 at 12 noon, followed by a private cremation.

Family flowers only. Donations are welcomed in memory of Jim to St Mary's Church, Nantwich, and Ward 76A, Royal Stoke University Hospital.
