AlanREXIt is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Alan Rex who passed away in Hull Royal with his son at his bedside on 27th January 2026 aged 87.

Loving Husband to Joyce. Deeply loved Dad to Edward. Adored Uncle to Heidi, Rick, Eddy, Dave and Alison.

We will mourn his loss deeply, yet take comfort in the memories he leaves behind.

Funeral service to take place on Friday 27th February 2026 at Lelley Fields Crematorium at 3pm (Birch Hall), followed by a celebration of his life at the Nags Head (Preston).

I used to talk to Joyce when I was out walking and she was on her bike, and I think it was probably her idea that Alan left a bottle of sweet Martini on our doorstep every Christmas, but he continued this kindly gesture for several years after Joyce died and I often stopped for a chat when I walked past his house. Such sad news Alan was a smashing fella! Always had time for a chat. He often spoke to me about Eddie running achievements.
