AlanPROUDLOVEMr Alan Proudlove, born William Alan Proudlove, of Oswald Street, Accrington, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 20, at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 78. Alan was born and raised in Accrington by his parents, Reginald and Maria, along with his twin sister Irene. He attended Peel Park Primary School, then went on to Woodnook Secondary School, before joining the army in 1958, aged 15. He had a very successful army career, which saw him serve all over the world. He finished army life as a Warrant Officer Class 2, an achievement he was very proud of. Alan was a keen and accomplished squash player. He also had a real passion for music, and had quite an eclectic taste. He also loved holidaying, football, and socialising, but his real passion was his family, and he loved nothing more than a family day with his children and grandchildren. Alan leaves behind his loving wife of 40 years, Tanya, children Andrea, Michele, and Mark, grandchildren Jake, Mitchell, Alexander, Rebecca, and Jack, son-in-law Brian, and the late David. His funeral service will be held on Monday, March 7, at 12.20pm at Accrington Crematorium, led by Suzanne Nolan. Family flowers only; donations for Macmillan Cancer or the British Legion would be greatly appreciated, c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
