I knew Brian during the last ten years of his life, when we worked together on the wartime Miles M.52 supersonic project, and on the dispersal mechanism of samaras of fraxinus. Brian quickly realised that I am not a mathematician, and he took immense trouble to explain complex algorithms in ways which I could understand. I wish I had met him 60 years ago. A wonderful, decent, thoughtful and honest man. Jim Pratt Feb 2026.

I was student at Cardiff University from 1963 - 66 and it was a privilege to have been taught by Professor Brinkworth. We never forget our teachers
