POPEGwen (Heenan) The much loved mother of Susan, Jacqueline and Anthony; and granny to Sara, passed away peacefully on Friday 17th July 2015 at 1pm in the L&D Hospital aged 71 years. Gwen will be reunited with Tony, her beloved husband of 37 years, who passed away in April 2002. Originally from Dundrum, County Down, NI, Gwen was a popular and well-known member of the community with a circle of friends whom she held very dear. Gwen lived in Luton for over 50 years and her humour, warmth and 'sparkle' will be missed by everyone who knew her. Gwen retired from over 20 years' service with Vauxhall/IBC and was an active participant in a local Dominoes Ladies League, a weekly Swimming Club and the Luton Bobbers Supporters Club. During the nineteen-sixties, Gwen played for Luton Town Ladies Football, where she was once awarded Player of the Year. Gwen was also selected to play for the England Ladies' Football team, a personal achievement of which Gwen and her family were very proud. Gwen's funeral will be on Thursday, 6th August at 12pm at the Vale Crematorium in Stopsley and the family would welcome all who knew and loved her to attend. To reflect Gwen's bright, cheerful personality, the family would welcome brightly coloured flowers and tributes. Susan, Jacqueline, Anthony & Sara
