AlanPILKINGTONIt is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Alan Pilkington, aged 77, who passed away peacefully in hospital surrounded by his loving family.
The dearly beloved husband to the late Pauline, much loved dad to Karen, Lee and Lisa and son-in-law Chris. Alan also leaves grandchildren Ashleigh, Bailey, Zachery, Georgia, and great-grandchild Ruben, all who miss him dearly, as well as many family and friends.
Alan worked for many years as a skilled machine operator at Howard and Bulloughs which later became Platt Saco Lowell. After the company closed, Alan worked for Calendar Aeropart before retiring. An avid football fan, Alan was heavily involved in local football, playing for the likes of Altham and Whinney Hill as well as managing Accrington Stanley reserves. After hanging up his boots Alan loved to watch his grandchildren play football whenever he could. He was also an excellent musician despite never having a single lesson, finding delight in playing the keyboard and singing to family and friends. Throughout his life Alan enjoyed many holidays, travelling far and wide with his wife Pauline and family and friends. He had a fantastic sense of humour and carried it with him in everything that he did.
He has left a lasting memory and will be sadly
missed by his family and friends.
Alan’s funeral will be held on October 11 at Accrington Crematorium at 11.40am
and afterwards at The Crown, Accrington.
Family flowers only and donations at
Cancer Research UK.
