JohnPICKARDOn 14th January 2019 suddenly at his beloved farm in Great Harwood, John aged 73 years passed away. The loving husband of Peggy, much loved dad of Sharon, Tracy, Jules and the late Mark, a dear father-in-law and loving grandad of Abbi and Sam. John was born and spent his whole life on his farm. He worked hard and was passionate about his sheep. He won many prizes with his prize winning flock and was well-known in the farming community. He judged at shows all over the country and in Ireland and Wales and had a good eye for spotting a winner. John was Chairman of Lonk Sheep Breeders for 24 years, as well as being the former Chairman of Ribblesdale Farmers' Club, Vice Chairman of Derbyshire Gritstone Sheepbreeders' Society, Director of Clitheroe Auction Mart, Gt Harwood Agricultural Society's current committee's longest standing Member, past Vice Chairman and Sheep Section Secretary. John loved to laugh and was great company, often enjoying his whiskey and pint of bitter at the Lord Nelson. John's funeral service took place on Wednesday 23rd January 2019 at St Bartholomew's Church, Great Harwood.
