AlexanderPERKINSAlex Perkins, aged 82 years, sadly passed away on Wednesday June 6th, peacefully in his sleep, at home in Taunton, Somerset, after a short illness. An old boy of Bacup & Rawtenstall grammar school in the late 50s, Imperial College London and Lancaster University (PhD). Alex was a keen sportsman, playing cricket at school and for local clubs, as well as crown green bowls when living in Garstang and squash in later life. He enjoyed a successful career as a research scientist, eventually retiring in 2000. He married Valerie Sunderland with whom he leaves two children and five grandchildren, and his second wife Margaret, all of whom will miss him dearly. A service will take place on Tuesday 25th June at Taunton Deane Crematorium, Wellington New Rd, Taunton TA1 5NE.
