I knew Alan prior to Royal Doulton when he attended Dog Training classes with Fred Bell, but I valued the time Alan spent with me when we drafted the COP for Kiln Wreck clearance which he was a 'dab hand', friendly and unassuming gentleman and sadly missed.

Had the pleasure of working for Alan at the St Mary's factory in Longton from 1995 to its closure in 1999. Alan was the works executive in charge and I was the operations manager. Alan was a very supportive boss, and a good man. It was a pleasure to work with him.
Thinking of his family at this sad time.
