John WilliamMOOREof Ashford, Barnstaple, passed away peacefully on
Thursday, 27th August, aged 96, a week before his 97th birthday.
He had been remarkably fit and well for most of his life, but faced a couple of spells in hospital in recent weeks.
John has a sister in Vancouver, Canada, with her own family, who he visited on many occasions. John was blessed with children, grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren at the time of his passing (the first seven were all boys). He was loved and respected by family and friends.
He was well known in North Devon, having been in retail in Barnstaple since 1969. He was an active Rotarian, a member of Probus and Braunton U3A, a magistrate for many years, a regular at Christ Church and a good friend to many people. His wife, Brenda, pre-deceased him in 2014.
A Thanksgiving service will be held in Christ Church, Braunton on Wednesday 16th September at 2.30pm. His two sons, Andrew and Richard and their families invite you to join us, if you are able to be there.
Family flowers only, donations in lieu of flowers are being gratefully received in John's memory for Sand Dams Worldwide (via Barnstaple Rotary Club), a charity providing safe, clean and transformational water to many communities all over the world.
