MichaelMOOREMichael grew up in Colwyn Bay; studied to be a chartered accountant at Caerhun Hall; moved back in retirement to live in Tal-y-Bont and Deganwy; and passed away peacefully on 11 March in Glan Clwyd Hospital, with close family members by his side. He is survived by his son and stepdaughter, and five grandchildren. Many who drive into Deganwy along the Glan-y-Mor road will know Michael as "the old man on the bench", sat opposite the level crossing leading to the Quay Hotel in all weathers, reading his newspaper and watching the world go by.

Michael was the son of Richard ("Dick") Moore and Marion Buckley, and older brother to Colin. The family moved up from Bournemouth (where Michael was born in 1942) to run the family business, which was the well-known Buckley's cafe in Colwyn Bay. Michael later enjoyed a successful career as a chartered accountant in London, and was a passionate sports fan in his spare time: cricket was his number one love, both playing and watching, but he also played golf and hockey, and was a season ticket holder at Everton. He was a familiar figure to many at Colwyn Bay Cricket Club, and the North Wales Golf Club. As he grew older and needed more support, he was very lucky to be surrounded by a group of kind neighbours and care agencies, especially an incredibly gifted team at Calon Lan and We Care Too. Michael's family wish to thank all of the local community -- whether that be the Llandudno District Nurse team, the Tan-y-Bryn Residential Care Home staff, the Conwy Telecare team, the Social Services Care Assessment team, the local police and paramedics, the doctors at Glan Clwyd and Ysbyty Gwynedd, as well as staff at Llandudno Asda, W H Smith, Marks & Spencer, and Mermaid Seafoods -- who consistently rallied around in ways both large and small to look after him. It was often humbling to watch what people who barely knew Michael were prepared to do in order to help him, at all hours of the day and night. His funeral will take place on 31 March at St Mary's Church, Caerhun.

His funeral will take place on 31 March at St Mary's Church, Caerhun at 1pm.
