ChristineMAYERSof Joe Connolly Way, Waterfoot, Rossendale, passed away at the Royal Blackburn Hospital on May 26, aged 78.
Christine was previously employed as a wage clerk. She was also the secretary to Janet Anderson, Member of Parliament for Rossendale and Darwen. She later retired from Asda in 2008.
She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family, reading, travelling, and flower arranging.
She supported the Air Ambulance, Diabetes UK and Age UK.
She was a member of the Women’s Institute and the Labour Party.
Christine leaves behind her son Timothy Jon Mayers, sister Jean Hayler, brother-in-law Peter Hayler,
nieces Katie Hayler and Evie Hayler and nephew Dylan Hayler.
A service will be held on June 16 at Fred Hamer Funeral Service, James Street, Rawtenstall at 12pm,
conducted by Kathy Unsworth, then to Rawtenstall Cemetery at 1pm.
