DerekMAYPassed away peacefully at home on 10th September, aged 73. Many will remember Derek from his days as a green-grocer at Bentley & May stall on Rochdale Market. Loving husband of Gwyneth and dad to Jeanna and Adam and grandad to his six granddaughters Lia, Briony, Macy, Twyla, Channing and Gilon. Also, Dayle - soon to be grandson-in-law and Danny, a very helpful friend. Thanks to Milnrow Village Practice, district nurses and Springhill Hospice who helped him during his long illness. Funeral to be held at Rochdale Crematorium on Monday 4th October at 11.50am and then on to Milnrow Cricket Club. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to Springhill Hospice or Stroke Association. All enquiries to S Wellens & Sons Tel: 0161 4645609

25th December 2025. Hello Derek, happy Christmas love. Five Christmas's without us phoning each other up and wishing each other a happy Christmas. Presume you will be spending it with Mam and friends. I believe Gwyneth is going round to Jeannas today for Christmas dinner. It will be a nice change for her. Miss you little brother. 11th September 2025 Oh Derek I cannot believe I didn't get in touch. It was four years yesterday since you went to sleep and left us. I miss you so much love, just want to thank you for all the support you gave to John. You so enjoyed speaking to each other and putting the world to rights. I love and miss you little brother.
