Leslie KeithMATTHEWSIt is with great sadness that we have to inform you that well known artist and tutor Les Matthews died peacefully at home on Wednesday 18th January 2023 after a long fight with cancer. He will be greatly missed by his wife, children and grandchildren. It was his wish not to have a funeral but a private celebration of his life is to be held in the near future. Les was a larger than life character who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

Just stumbled across the gallery brochure about Les’s work and heard him laugh his deep raucous laugh-at the weekend courses he used to run with his friend and colleague- we had such fun along with very serious work. He pushed each of us towards more courageous expression while giving the most meticulous demonstrations of watercolour magic.
Lovely generous and daring man, you were, dear Les. Thank you.

Les was truly a unforgettable 'one off'. A lovely generous and engaging man, the compleat artist, so admired, liked and respected by all who were lucky enough to know him. Our thoughts are with Anthea and his family. RIP Les.
