YvonneMARTINIt is with great sadness that the family of Yvonne Martin (Nee Owen) announces her passing on 1st June 2022 age 77 years. She died peacefully at home with her family by her side. Much loved daughter of the late Lily and Private James Owen who was tragically killed in action in France before her birth. Loving wife to the late John. Much cherished mum to Gary and Lyndon and daughter-in-law Amanda. Loving grandma to John, Rachel and her husband Jonty, and great grandma to Alice Yvonne and Julia Precious sister to the late Rosaline and husband Derek, devoted auntie to Lisa Yvonne and husband Paul. Cherished great auntie (Nattie) to Harriet and Giles, Charlotte, Felicity and Phoebe. Born on Ash Street In Oswaldtwistle, she attended St Andrews and Rhyddings school in the town. In her younger days she enjoyed pottery and art. She loved jiving to Elvis at the old Ossy Empire. She spotted her future husband, John, playing football on the Heys and thought that he had nice legs. After marriage to John she worked in the family bakery for over 50 yrs. She loved rising early and getting stuck in to rolling teacakes 5 days a week until her retirement age 75. But best of all she loved sharing a chat and a joke with all of the customers. Away from work Yvonne loved family parties and holidays, and for many years she was a season ticket holder at Bolton Octagon Theatre. She had many good friends and will be sadly missed by all of those who knew her. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday 15th June, 11am at Accrington Crematorium and afterwards at The Globe Bowling Club, Dunny Shop Avenue, Accrington, BB5 0LW Family flowers only Donations can be made to Hyndburn & Ribble Valley Parkinsons Support Group and sent to Oswaldtwistle Funeral Services, 235 Union Road, Oswaldtwistle, BB5 3HU
