RoyMARSHALLof Tunstead Crescent, Stacksteads, died on Saturday, October 22 aged 73 years. Born in Stacksteads where he lived all of his life, Roy had been employed at J H Hirsts Footwear in Waterfoot for many years as a clicker. He was a fanatical supporter of Bacup Cricket Club where he was affectionately known as ‘Roy of Rossendale’ and was renowned throughout the Lancashire League. Roy was a talented footballer during his younger years and was scouted by Burnley Football Club. He was a great lover of nature being particularly interested in birds and badgers. He leaves his sister Anne, niece Rachel and her husband Mark, great niece Isabella and good friend of many years Clive. A short service will be held at the Chapel of Rest on Thursday, November 3 at 11.35am followed by cremation at Burnley Crematorium at 12.15pm, conducted by Mrs Jill Bolton.
