VeronicaMAKINIt is with great sadness that the family of The Late Veronica Makin 'Vera' announce her passing. Sunrise: 11th September 1947 Sunset: 4th December 2025 Aged: 78 Vera met her beloved Tony when she was just 21 years old, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter and family. She was a devoted mum to her three children Tony, Sharon and Gerard, and a proud nan to her six grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom she adored. Vera was a barmaid all her working life and was known by many as hard as nails, never short of a good swear word and always full of character. Behind that tough exterior was a heart of pure gold. She would give anyone her last penny and was endlessly kind, helpful and funny, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met. Her home was always filled with warmth and love while the children were growing up. Family life meant everything to Vera, with treasured memories made playing rounders, walking in the woods and spending long summer days together. Vera was also known for her amazing memory and her love of cowboy films, with John Wayne being her absolute favourite. So much so that the grandchildren always joked that John Wayne was their grandad. Vera was truly one of a kind and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her spirit, humour and love will live on forever in the hearts of her family. Vera is resting at Butterflies Rising Funeral Care 37-39 Mill Lane L12 7HY.
