IreneMAIRSIrene passed away suddenly at the QE hospital, Gateshead, on 31st May 2024, after a short illness that was compounded by Alzheimer's which she had struggled with for a number of years. She was surrounded by her family and love at her time of passing.
Irene was originally from Liverpool but had made Birtley her home along with her beloved husband Norman from whom she was recently widowed. Irene and Norman were Inseparable for 63 years.
Irene was the devoted mother of Tom, Lorraine, Vicky. Loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren and great grandmother to 7 great grandchildren.
Irene was a very strong woman who always fought for what she believed in and for those she loved. She was greatly loved and she will be very dearly missed by her family and loved ones.
Thank you to the staff at Lindisfarne Care Home, Birtley who looked after her so well and with so much kindness. Thank you also to the incredible staff of the accident and emergency department at the QE hospital and ward EAU 1 who cared for our mother during her final hours with such care and compassion, not only for Mum but for us also. Your kindness will never be forgotten and you are a credit to the QE and the NHS.
Night night Mum, you're at peace now and back with dad. We will love and miss you forever xxx
A funeral service will be held at Saltwell Crematorium on Friday 21st June 2024 at 1pm.
Family flowers only please. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers and will be gratefully received by Dementia UK.
