MargaretLORDof Grasmere Road, Haslingden, passed away peacefully with her four children by her side, at Highfield Hall Care Home on March 1, aged 84 years, just 15 days after the passing of her husband of 65 years, Grahame.
Margaret began her working life in the offices of Globe Mill, Waterfoot, before marrying and starting a family. She worked for many years at Duralay (Interfloor), initially in the Sales Office, then as a despatch clerk in the Transport Office.
Margaret liked to be active, playing badminton in the Rossendale League for St Joseph's Ramsbottom in the 1980s and taking up golf after retirement. She also enjoyed music, walking, reading, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with family.
She had been a member of Green Howarth Golf Club, where she enjoyed both playing in the club competitions and attending social events. She was also a member of the Bury Hard of Hearing group.
Margaret leaves behind four children, Simon, Sarah, Andrew and Nicholas, grandchildren Sarah, Harry, Jozef, Oskar, Oliver, Benjamin, Isabelle, Megan and Molly, their partners, and two great granddaughters, Grace and Rona. She also leaves her cousin Margaret and husband Colin, nephews, a niece and many good friends, including Audrey and Jean.
A service will be held on Tuesday, March 17, at Accrington Crematorium at 2.20pm followed by a celebration of Margaret's life at Haslingden Cricket Club.
