Robert RobsonLORAINERobert passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, aged 90, on 10 March 2026. He was born in Newcastle upon Tyne on 16 December 1935 to Robert and Ellen Loraine (née Watson), and married his childhood sweetheart, Sheila Loraine (née Brady), in 1956.
Robert worked for most of his career as a qualified deep mine surveyor for the National Coal Board, before he and Sheila went on to pursue what became their happiest vocation: self-employed house builders in Prudhoe and Shotley Bridge.
Robert is survived by his wife, Sheila; his three children, Michael Loraine, Stephen Loraine and Julie Smith; his four grandchildren, Paul Smith, Stephanie Gregory, Mark Smith and Robert Loraine; and his great-grandchild, Theo Gregory. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A service to celebrate Robert's life will be held at Mountsett Crematorium on 10 April 2026 at 2 pm. All who knew Robert or the family are warmly welcome to attend.
