CharlesLONGHeather and all of family of the late Charlie would like to express their sincere thanks to all relatives, friends, neighbours and Territorial Army colleagues for the many cards, kind messages of sympathy and generous donations received following their recent sad loss. The donations benefitted The Royal Anglian and Royal Lincolnshire Regiment Association and The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal (Grimsby Branch) which Charlie was a huge supporter of.

A special heartfelt thank you to Melodie Graham for all her help, love and support to all the family. To Dennis Smith for all his help and support, especially for providing transport for hospital visits and to Alan Carlile. To The Royal Anglian and Royal Lincolnshire Regiment Association for all they have done for both Heather and Charlie in those last (unbeknown) few weeks, especially Andy and Lesley McCurdy, John Cooper and Wayne Okopskyi (Ski). And a very special thank you to Jamie Taylor (Titch) for working so hard to make sure that Charlie's wishes were adhered to and orchestrating everything that was involved in making Charlie's day a perfect send off. Thanks to all the standard bearers, from far and wide, and for both serving and veteran members of the armed forces for the guard of honour. Very special thanks to Charanananjeet Okopskyi for taking up the mantle of carrying the standard for the Regimental Association Grimsby Branch on the day, "which was Charlie's Standard "You did him proud! To Mathew Hardy, Wayne Sheils and the pall bearers that shouldered Charlie for his last send off. To John (the drummer), Eddie (the bugler) and Dave (the piper) who were so fitting for Charlie's service. Not forgetting Rocky and the survivors of the "bbc", you know who you are! To Colonel Simon Bacon for his most enjoyable eulogy and to Tony Jewitt for his personal and comforting service.

To Andy, Lesley, Andy's mum, Patricia, Lindsey and Mr and Mrs Clark for the fantastic catering, funded by the Regimental Association and to the Cartergate Social Club for providing the venue for Charlie's wake, especially Shona, Tracey and Pete, the extremely busy bar staff. Thanks to Stacie and Ruth at Thrive for their help, and support and always having a listening ear! To Diana Princess of Wales Hospital, A & E, and Stroke Wards-all staff (especially catering). Charlie thought your meals were fantastic. To Dr Sanjay Gupta and staff at Beacon Medical Centre, and the always helpful Birmingham's Pharmacy. To Dr Natalie Jeffrey, Dr Aus, Alistair and staff at Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham, where Charlie spent his last 6 days, for all their care. But sorry, he had to have his last Ringtons Tea! Thanks Paul. Mrs Jo Boulter, a kind heart and a true friend for her loving words that gave such comfort and peace for Charlie's final journey. Finally, to Julie and the team at Sentiments Funeral Home for their care of Charlie and his family, and for their dignified and respectful arrangements.
