The obituary notice of Muriel LONG

We didn't get to know Muriel as well as we would have liked to but whenever we did meet her I was always struck by her kindness and generosity - that she would bring around a home baked fruit cake unprompted to people she barely knows says it all really. We know from other neighbours and those in the community who have been here longer than us that Muriel was a friend to many, and though we were sad to learn of her passing we were glad to hear she was surrounded by her loving and attentive family

The Long family were a huge part of my childhood. I am very saddened to hear of Murials passing.
It wasn't just the tennis club either both Murial and Ted had their home open to us all day and night!
I have many fond memories of them and those times. Unfortunately I can't attend the funeral because I live overseas but I would like to send my deepest condolences to all of you. Duncan Sims

Thank you Muriel for welcoming us into your family. Our memories of you, from when we were young, are always heartwarming each time we reflect on them as adults.

You bought each of us a stuffed gorilla, which we all creatively named ‘Monkey’. No other name like ‘Clover, Pompom or Coco’ would do.
We cherished our gifts throughout our childhood because it symbolised more to us than just toys to play with. You gave us acceptance and consideration.

We will be forever grateful for that.

I was privileged to know Muriel for a number of years. She was a wonderful lady with a twinkling smile and a lovely ready wit. Caring and compassionate, whilst able to quell disorderly behaviour with a steally glare. Muriel embodied all the virtues of her generation and the world is poorer for her passing.

So sorry to hear of Aunty Muriels passing. Such an amazing lady. Sorry I didn't get to see her for so long. Much love and deepest condolences to you all. XX
